Before China, We Went Tropical

The only sand on the island is in this large shallow bay where the depth is only 3ft to 4ft.
This made windsurfing a "breeze".

Bonaire is basically a coral island with no sandy beaches .
The shoreline is composed of hard coral so rubber soled
booties are a must..................................

Shore diving in paradise!

Fifty miles off the coast of Venezuela is a tiny, desert island called Bonaire. This island is essentially a scuba diver's paradise with the coral reef within 50 ft from the shore. We rented a pick-up and some scuba gear, tossed a few tanks in the back and went shore diving. After gearing up, we walked into the caribbean sea, swam out a bit and descended onto some sweet coral formations. We did 13 dives including one awesome wreck and a couple eerie night dives.
We also tried windsurfing on a baby blue, sandy bottomed bay with a ripping wind. Dave took a lesson and spent a day tacking and jibing...he's so AWESOME!!
